American Christian (PA) is facing off against Rancocas Valley (NJ) right now. The Eagles of ACA are led by senior guard Tyreke Evans. He is generally considered the top uncommitted senior in the country. RV is a solid team, yet doesn't hve the star power that ACA has.
3:18pm- ACA is up 12-6, after four three-pointers from post-grad guard Jeremiah Kelly.
3:27pm- After one quarter, American Christian is on top 22-12. Tyreke Evans has a three, junior Lamont Jones has a three and a two, Kelly has four treys, and post-grad Martez Walker has two free throws.
3:31pm- RV is down 24-12, but they are staying in this game, and are not intimidated by the Eagles from ACA.
3:32pm- The Red Devils from Rancocas Valley are playin zone and they are allowing ACA to get lots of offensive boards through their height advantage. They are keeping Tyreke Evans in check, though.
3:35pm- Junior wing player Oscar Griffin just showed off his quickness and agility to grab a lose ball and get past some defenders.
3:38pm- Junior swingman Mike Bersch just grabbed a defensive board. He has been active on both ends of the court.
3:39pm- Andre Byrdsong, a senior guard from RV, keeps driving to the hoop. Though he isn't always getting off a good shot, or any shot for that matter, he is showing some real toughness.
3:40pm- Byrdsong just hit a three. ACA is now up just five, 28-23. there is 1:15 to go in the half.
3:42pm- Junior forward Kendall White just hit one of two from the line, cutting ACA's lead to four.
3:43pm- Averson Matthews, a post-grad center for ACA, just scored and drew a foul. He missed the and-one, but post-grad forward Chris Edwards got the board and put it in.
3:44pm- Kendall White has sliced the lead in half, down to three, after converting on an and-one. Lamont Jones then hit a buzzer-beater and got fouled. He completed the traditional three-point play, giving American Christian a six-point lead, 35-29, entering halftime.
3:54pm- In the first half, Evans showed a great handle and a few nice moves, but really hasn't done much on D, or scored much. You can just see the talent in him. Everyone here wants to watch him play to his full potential.
3:57pm- ACA is starting to take over. Their lead is up to 11, 40-29. Mike Bersch and Andre Byrdsong are continuing to play well for RV, though.
3:58pm- Byrdsong just hit a long three to put the ACA lead back to sngle digits. Lamont Jones answered with a thre-ball to raise the lead to 12. Byrdsong then put in another deuce. Jones answered once again with a three. Jones and Byrdsong are trading buckets, but Jones' are threes and Byrdsong's are twos. It's 46-33 with 3:25 to go in the third quarter.
4:01pm- Jones just hit another three. He is on fire right now.
4:06pm- Jones hit two more threes. His shot is amazing. The 6-foot junior is easily the playing the best of everyone on the court right now, including Tyreke Evans.
4:07pm- The third quarter just ended, and the Eagles have run away with this game. They lead 57-40, after a buzzer-beating deuce from junior forward Nnamdi Njoku.
4:10pm- Rancocas Valley senior guard Mustafa El-Amin just scored on a pretty runner through the lane.
4:11pm- Tyreke Evans is playing somewhat lazily on defense. He hasn't done much today.
4:12pm- Byrdsong just showed off a nice handle and pass. He is a great talent.
4:13pm- Evans just scored. Maybe he'll pick his play up now. There is 5:18 remaining in the game, and ACA leads 59-44.
4:15pm- ACA junior forward Devyn Erwin just got cheers from the crowd on two straight offenseive plays. First he scored on a nice two-handed jam from the low-post. Next time down te hcourt, he converted on an alley-oop pass from Lamont Jones.
4:16pm- Byrdsong scored at one end of the floor, then fouled Erwin at the other end. Erwin hit one of two free throws. He has the last five ACA points.
4:18pm- Bersch just had a three roll around the rim and out. He can really jump, and seems to have a good shot. By the way, Evans is out right now.
4:19pm- Devyn Erwin just received a long pass and put in a flashy slam dunk.
4:20pm- Byrdsong just went strong to the hoop and got fouled. He missed both shots. Despite the misses, I am extremely impressed with Andre Byrdsong. He has played an absolutely fantastic game.
4:24pm- Chris Edwards just displayed some nice low post moves, but he couldn't put the ball in the hoop.
4:25pm- Post-grad wing Karron McKenzie hit a three, and that was teh final bucket of the game.
4:26pm- American Christian comes away with the win, 73-48.
4:27pm- Andre Byrdsong won MVP for RV with 22 points. For ACA, Lamont Jones was the MVP, with 25 points, including seven threes, six of which were in the third quarter.
4:55pm- I talked to Tyreke Evans and Lamont Jones of ACA, as well as the head coach of ACA, Tony Bergeron, so I'll tell you about that later. As well, I spoke with Andre Byrdsong of RV.
