The Hermits of St. Augustine (NJ) are squaring off against The Hun School (NJ). The Raiders of Hun are led by top-notch senior forward Lance Goulboure. The Hermits have a solid group of players, including freshman forward Charlie Monaghan and freshman guard Isaiah Morton.
12:07pm- St. Augustine has jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead, after almost three minutes of play.
12:08pm- Goulbourne just knocked down a trey.
12:10pm- Hun's senior guard Doug Davis just drained a three to put the Raiders on top 8-6.
12:11pm- Monaghan just had a nice block down low.
12:13pm- Senior big man Egheosa Edomwonyi has scored the last four points for Hun, who leads 12-8 with about 2:00 left in the first quarter.
12:14pm- The two teams just traded three-pointers. Right now, Monaghan is guarding Goulbourne is man-to-man D.
12:17pm- Edomwonyi hit one of two free throws with under five seconds on the clock. Senior forward Josh Thompson then missed a runner at the buzzer. The Raiders are leading 18-13 after eight minutes of play.
12:19pm- Raiders' senior forward Sterling Melville just went hard to the rack and drew a foul. He hit the first of two, and Monaghan grabbed the board after the second.
12:21pm- Junior forward Anthony La Lota just hit a three for Hun.
12:22pm- Josh Thompson just scored on a put-back tip-in for the Hermits. He has been quite impressive thus far. Hun leads 21-18 with about 5:40 to go in the half.
12:23pm- Goulbourne just came out. There was 5:31 left when he left the floor.
12:24pm- Morton just hit one of two free throws. Sterling Melville then scored at the other end.
12:26pm- Doug Davis just knocked in another three, putting Hun up by eight, 28-20.
12:27pm- Davis with another basket. Hun's lead is now 10.
12:28pm- Senior guard Matt Florio dished a nice pass to Edomwonyi down low, but he was unable to get Florio the assist. He did get his own rebound and put it back up and in, though. It's a 12-point game with 3:13 to go in the half.
12:30pm- Mike Auriemma, a senior guard for Hun, just hit a three, pushing the lead to 15. Lance Goulbourne has just re-entered the game, with 1:50 to play in the half.
12:32pm- Goulbourne's left wrist is taped up. I didn't notice that when he was on the floor earlier. I'll let you know if I hear anything regarding Lance.
12:33pm- Melville just scored on a put-back with under one minute to go. The lead is 16.
12:34pm- Doug Davis just drove into the lane and put upa shot with about 10 seconds left. The Hermits got the board, but Davis stole the ball back, and scored. St. Augustine missed a long buzzer beater, so Hun is up 41-23 as we enter the break. Hun took control of the game about halfway through the second quarter. In fact, it was about the time that Goubourne came out.
12:56pm- Sorry about that, I was having some internet problems. To catch you up, it's 57-34 in favor of Hun with 34.4 seconds left in the third quarter.
12:57pm- Thompson just picked up his third foul, with 1.4 left in the quarter. The score is still 57-34, as we are heading into the fourth quarter.
12:59pm- Goulbourne just had a nice play and scored a deuce. The lead for Hun is now 25 points.
1:00pm- Josh Thompson just hit the first of two free throws. He grabbed the ball after he missed the second. AS he fell out of bounds, he passed it to Morton, and he drained a three. That was a tremendous play from Thompson. He is having a terrific game.
1:02pm- Morton just threw a lob pass from the three-point line towards the hoop. Thompson skied, got the ball, and jammed it, connecting for a fabulous alley-oop.
1:03pm- Lance Goulborne just went up, grabbed an offensive rebound, and slammed it down. That got a big cheer from the crowd here in Trenton, New Jersey.
1:05pm- Both teams are now playing some of their reserves. Doug Davis just hit a shot to push the lead up to a whopping 24 points, 65-41. There is just over 4:40 to play.
1:06pm- Morton just hit a three-pointer. The freshman has displayed a wide array of talent, including passing, dribbling, and shooting. He is a triple-threat with the ball.
1:09pm- Junior guard Bill Giberson just hit both shots in a one-and-one for the Hermits.
1:10pm- Hun has fouled St. Augustine again, the second staright posession. Monaghan was not able to hit the first shot in his one-and-one, and Hun got the board.
1:11pm- Wow, Hun just fouled yet again. The Hermits have been fouled on their last three posessions, and are now in teh double bonus. Monaghan hit the first of two at the line.
1:11pm- This is insane, Hun just picked up another foul. Josh Thompson hit one of two for his sqaud, cutting the lead to 19, 67-48.
1:13pm- Well, this time down, Hun did not foul, and Morton hit a jump-shot.
1:14pm- St. Augustine just missed three shots. They then stole the ball back after Hun finally got a board. Thompson drove hard to the hole and drew a blocking foul. He proceeded to hit one of two.
1:15pm- Morton just drained another three-pointer. This kid can really stroke it.
1:17pm- Hun is up 73-56 with 24.4 to go in the game.
1:18pm- Hun just finished it up with some nice ball movement and a short jumoer for junior Nick Cuvelier. The Raiders take the game with a final score of 76-56.
1:35pm- Josh Thompson was the MVP for the Hermits, and Sterling Melville got the honor for the Raiders. I talked to Lance Goulbourne after the game. I'll let you know about our talk later on.
1:54pm- To let you know, Goulbourne told me that the ref noticed he had cut his wrist and that's why he came out and had it taped up. He says he is fine, though, which is good to hear.
2:07pm- Sterling Melville had 16 points. Lance Goulbourne added 10, and Doug Davis had 12 for Hun. On the other end, Josh Thompson had 16 for the Hermits, and Isaiah Morton had 15.
